Kayden's Birthday Bash (belated entry)

So, like I said below, Kayden turned 1 year old last month.  The theme was "Puppies" since we have two now.  I guess I'll let the pictures do most of the narrating . . .

Cake made by Yours Truly

Once I gave him permission (aka forcing his hand into the cake), he loved the sugary sweetness.

We made the wall underneath our island a chalkboard to hopefully deter any writing on "non-chalkboard" walls . . . we'll see how that goes in the coming months.

He got some awesome presents from family/friends.

Thanks to everyone who joined the celebration.  I know he's only one but it was a fun party none-the-less!

One Whole Year

It's amazing what one year can do.  In my son's case it took a baby and made a little boy.  We celebrated his birthday and he loved every minute of it . . . pics to come soon.  Until then, here are a few to reminisce how small he really was.

It's About Time

It's about time we posted and it's about time my computer is finally fixed.  I was able to salvage all of my photos & info by sticking the computer in the freezer for a few minutes before turning it on.  I feel very lucky.

We've had a few additions/changes to our family.  One being a lab puppy.  That was Brett's birthday gift in August and he now feels our family is complete.  This is Preacher, so named from the character on this amazing movie.  If you haven't watched it in a while, I suggest you taking the time and soaking in the depth of the movie.

He fell asleep on a road trip in his food bowl

We have also had many opportunities to go out on some great hikes.  Kayden has found that he enjoys the water, even if it's too cold for most adults to even touch.  Brett got fed up with keeping his diaper on and him constantly climbing into the water, so he ditched the saggy diaper and let him roam free.  I think it's pretty cute :)

He actually kept his life jacket on and got in a couple naps too.

Kayden's first deep water solo climb :)

This picture affirmed to me that my baby is quickly growing into a little boy.  I can't believe how fast time flies!

The fam at a lake in the Uintas

Just a random picture of me with some guns and yes I have a license.

Some Pictures Of My Sweet Son

Sorry these were all taken with a crappy phone, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy hanging out with him!

Computer . . . Dead

So, my computer died . . . literally.  The hard drive just gave out and I lost alot of personal information on it.  My recommendation to all of you is to BACK UP YOUR HARD DRIVE DAILY!  Pictures from Spain, of Kayden, Brett and I, music I just bought, etc. lost into oblivion . . . unless I have $1000 to pay for someone to pull it out, which I don't.  That long explanation is the reason for no recent posts.  Hopefully they will be coming soon . . . with a new hard drive.

Kayden-Rayden-Rooskie-Tooskie

Kayden is the best baby anyone could ask for and this picture proves it . . .

*Doesn't this picture just make you smile too?*

Lately he's taken up the hobby of "getting into everything".  I love it and hate it at the same time; I love that he is mobile and exploring the world around him but I hate cleaning up after the little rascal.  He's also mastered going up the stairs . . . coming down is a whole other story (thankfully we've been there to catch him).
He has also become a master parrot and loves to copy Brett and I, especially with "uh-oh".  One of our favorites is his mimicking my "allergy-cough" . . . I didn't realize I coughed that much until he started copying me.

*Rockin' the cool "T" and stellar shades*

Who knew you could love someone so much?

P.S. You can all thank the Larkin's for that awesome title as it's his nickname they gave him - it stuck.

Late Night Rants

So it's midnight and I'm up wishing I was on a bike and with Brett in St. George enjoying this:

and this:

(it's a form of hiking done in Zion's)

I have had a little time on my hands with my husband down "south" on vacation.  Even with a "little tornado" that is Kayden these days.

So, I made these:

And you certainly can't have Graham Crackers without these:

And then topped it all with some delicious chocolate . . . salivating yet?

I also caught up on some movies whilst making these delectable treats...

Pride and Prejudice (a Sunday tradition)

and

The last movie really made me laugh at some of the parallels to our marriage (TMI?).  For one, we are not assassins, but we certainly have had our times where we wanted to "kill' the other person:

Another is how competitive we both are and I certainly don't want
to be the one holding the
"girly gun".

Lastly, even though we have wanted to "kill" each other
and may be a bit over-the-top
competitive, we sure do make a great team:

Last of the Trip

2.5 weeks later:
-Brett and I are still married and alive despite being with one another almost every minute of every day of this trip.

-We have a "bazillion" pictures and I don't even know where to begin as to what to do with them.

-Brett and especially myself can't wait until we are in an english speaking country (Brett has been doing most, if not all, of the translating . . . he's done).

-My love for the Spanish culture/people has grown - they are sooo passionate about everything they do especially flamenco dancing.

-I'm ready for a REAL salad, not one of these "fake" european/spanish salads that say they are salads.

-I can't wait to watch American T.V. again.

-I am not going to miss the rainy days here; my face explains it all in the photo below:

-Cana (pronounced can-ya), oh you chocolate filled goodness, you will be missed and I will try to replicate you at home.

-"Non-Smoking" just about everywhere . . . one of the many things I love about the U.S.

-The Architecture and food here is and has been incredible; there is nothing like it:

-We are NOT going to miss doing this:
We can't wait to give him a big hug and kiss on those chubby little cheeks!

Homeward bound . . .
