Departure!
Well, the time came this morning for Brett to head up to Alaska for a month. He is receiving training and experience in becoming a backcountry ski guide. As the anticipation kept growing these past couple of weeks, there was some relief when it finally came time to put him on a plane. It felt real and not some crazy dream like before. Brett's had his fare share of bumps along the way, one being a stress fracture that showed up about a month ago in his lower leg. He most likely injured it while going of a cliff, hitting the landing wrong and skiing almost every day while working at The Canyons. He took a few weeks off and found a new pair of boots, as per the Dr.'s request. He seems to be fine now and didn't show any regress in the times we went skiing after his "time off".
I can't tell you how excited I am for him. I am also jealous . . . extremely jealous that he is going to go have all that fun without me. We have talked about me coming up next year when he will most likely go again and guide with the company that is training him. He is really stepping out of his comfort zone and I am so proud.
We will both be posting: He with pictures and progress and I with what is going on at home.
